Valley of flowers
Picturesque Yumthang valley lets you enjoy the enchanting view of green slopes covered with trees, yaks grazing in the flower-spangled grassy plains below, and a river flowing right through the valley. The valley has astonishing 24 varieties of Rhododendrons, which paints the valley in serene red in spring. If you walk around the valley you might the warmth of the scattered hot spring even in freezing temperature. These hot springs are believed to have miraculous healing power as they are rich in Sulphur.
A flat grassy valley in the middle, a mountain river flowing through it, and lush green mountains covered with trees and vegetation on both sides, will leave you speechless. Apart from Rhododendrons, you will enjoy flowers like tiny yellow Buttercups, pink Geraniums, and some species of Clematis vine, not to forget immensely pretty flower called “forget-me-not”. The beautiful flowers and serene slopes will leave you enchanted for a long time.

At an elevation of 11,693 ft above mean sea level Yumthang is located at a distance of 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the state capital Gangtok.
It is popularly known as ‘Valley of Flowers’ and is home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which has over twenty-four species of the rhododendron, the state flower. A tributary of the river Teesta flows past the valley and the town of Lachung, the nearest inhabited centre.
A forest rest house is the only permanent residence in the valley. During the spring months, the area blooms with rhododendrons, primulas, poppies, iris and other flora. Skiing is conducted in the valley.

Bagdogra/New Jalpaiguri to Gangtok
Travel 126km for about 4 hours to reach Gangtok via Teesta, Rangpo, Singtam in a Standard/Luxury vehicle. Stay overnight in Hotel for the rest of the day. We will arrange your tour permit after collecting necessary documents from you.
Gangtok to Lachung
After taking breakfast, start your journey of 102.5 km road distance for about 6 hours to reach Lachung, North Sikkim. Stay overnight in Hotel for the rest of the day.
Lachung to Yumthang and back to Gangtok
After breakfast, visit Yumthang Valley and Zero Point (a.ka. Katao). While returning visit nearby hotspring and have light snacks. You can return to Gangtok on the same day after having your lunch or can extend your trip to visit Gurudongmar Lake which will take one more day. Stay overnight in a hotel in Gangtok if you didn’t extend your North Sikkim trip.
